FM Global has an immediate opening for an Account Engineer in the Toronto office. Joining an office with a growing diverse book of manufacturing and non-manufacturing clients, the successful candidate will work in a fast paced environment.
The Account Engineer (AE) is the most visible, influential, engineering service FM Global offers, as indicated by our clients. The AE is the point of entry to all the engineering products and services we provide. The AE needs to understand their client's goals and the property risks their facilities face. They need their AE to work with them to design and deliver customized risk improvement plans, and help them sell the plan to their senior management and facility management. As an Account Engineer in Toronto Operations, you will work collaboratively with the Client Service Team and Field Engineering, frankly assessing, communicating, and reducing/resolving exposures to make our clients’ locations resilient to various hazards. You will have the opportunity to create and develop strategies that strengthen our client relationships and reduce the frequency and severity of losses at our clients’ locations. To streamline your job, you will have access to the latest online tools like the Client Servicing System, Risk Console, MyRisk, and InfoPort et.al.. In addition, as part of your career development you will be exposed to the basics of the insurance industry, insurance policy provisions, and other aspects of the insurance side of the business. Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, and 4 to 10 years of engineering experience . A P.Eng designation, or ability to obtain the designation in the near term, would be an asset. Experience in project management in providing a wide range of engineering services such as fire protection systems (i.e. automatic fire sprinkler systems and associated water supplies, fire detection systems), mechanical systems, building structures, safety reviews, etc. in industrial and commercial sectors would be beneficial. This would include responsibilities such as on-site and technical assessments, written reports, client communications, project budgeting, mechanical design, cost-benefit analysis, and related project administration. Experience in a wide variety of businesses would be essential and experience in mining or power generation would be an additional asset. Basic requirements also include having strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to analyze data and develop assessments, negotiate and implement risk improvement plans and create and demonstrate value added to clients. Organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, consulting and teamwork skills are needed to succeed in our team-oriented structure.
