This position will be responsible for coordination of prompt loss investigation and all other claims handling duties necessary to achieve equitable, fair and timely loss settlement of assigned claims. The Claims Examiner may supervise and direct the activities of external independent adjusters ensuring all FM Global claims requirements are met. The Claims Examiner will also provide claims handling support assistance to experienced adjusters on larger losses as assigned by the Claims Manager.

Responsibilities - External:


Responsibilities include; claims handling activities, including but are not limited to investigating and assisting the insured in loss mitigation activities on property losses for commercial policies; assisting with salvage and subrogation opportunities, requesting pertinent loss information for loss measurement purposes; utilizing judgment in determining when additional in-house or outside expert assistance may be required; negotiating with the insured to reconcile any differences of opinion regarding the extent of loss and/or coverage; communicating all coverage decisions verbally and in writing to appropriate parties; all while maintaining a professional rapport with all concerned parties in an effort to provide claims service.

Qualifications - External:


Education: College degree or equivalent job experience.

Experience: 2 to 5 years of claim processing activity or equivalent responsibility.

Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of various property insurance coverage’s and forms; advanced computer knowledge (Word/Excel); mathematical aptitude; sound organizational skills; attention to detail and accuracy; focus on quality, performance and customer service; professional attitude, strong interpersonal skills and a desire to enhance both personal and job related skills; good oral and written communication skills; good presentation skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; ability to contribute effectively

in a team environment.
