Overview / Responsibilities

The Business Analyst is responsible for the collection, evaluation, understanding, and communication of business requirements involved in the development of new or the modification and ongoing support of infrastructure business and operational applications and procedures. This person will provide guidance and direction to other business analysts, other teams, and may manage projects of significant scope and complexity.

The Business Analyst:

  • Participates in system requirements definition, testing, training, implementation, and support of infrastructure business applications. 
  • Solicits business requirements through interviews, workshops, and/or existing system documentation or procedures. Uses industry standard analysis techniques to uncover business requirements, such as data flow modeling, use-case analysis, and workflow analysis.
  • Documents the results of analysis activities using the appropriate templates and tools and be a key contributor in the definition of what the appropriate templates and tools are.
  • Use data-backed analysis to generate new insights and identify business and growth opportunities. Focus on ensuring that existing business performance is tracking against goals, key metrics, and industry standards. Provide critical guidance and thought leadership to stakeholders.
  • Analyze and assess Infrastructure organizational and process challenges, identify recommendations for solutions, and define a roadmap to successfully implement such solutions.
  • Apply LEAN methodologies to achieve desired future state goals and requirements. 
  • Makes recommendations and influences outcome regarding necessary changes on deliverables expected from other groups.
  • Initiates and leads work with other development groups to ensure an integrated business solution.
  • Assumes the responsibility of project manager for projects where the scope is at a significant level of complexity. These projects could be new initiatives or modifications to an existing application.
  • Represents Infrastructure business needs on project teams.
  • Develop reports and supporting presentations for discussions.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of FM Global’s business and business processes.



6-8 years of Experience as a Business Analyst

2+ Years' experience in Project Management is a plus

2+ years Agile and/or Scrum project experience is a plus

1-3 years’ experience in LEAN process improvement experience, with a focus on IT Service Management and/or IT Operations Management processes

1-3 years' experience as a consultant or equivalent experience

Preferred certifications: ITIL, LEAN, Agile Project Management

Technical Knowledge

Proven experience with techniques and tools utilized to elicit requirements, define functional design, perform data analysis, and data flow diagramming used to solve business problems.

Proven experience gathering requirements, functional design, and influencing business processes of moderate complexity.

Proven ability to work in technical environments that use tools involved in data flow diagramming, data analysis, issue tracking, and documentation and presentation.


Experience gathering business requirements and developing these into functional requirements.

Analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to gather appropriate dataand diagnose the cause of a problem or to develop a solution.

Self-motivation to stay current in the usage of technologies, business analysis tools and techniques.

Ability to translate LEAN, Agile & technical concepts as appropriate to the level of the audience.

Proven ability to multi-task and establish priorities for own work to meet deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work self-directed and as part of a team on projects of varying size; work well on cross functional project teams and shows commitment to tasks, project and to team.

Soft Skills

Principle Business Analyst Additional:
