Chicago Operations has an immediate opening for a Field Engineering Assistant (FEA) in Work Assignment. Under general supervision, the Field Engineering Assistant provides complete administrative and technical support including but not limited to Work Assignment and Engineering Processing Team functions.


Responsibilities:

The incumbent’s main responsibility is to assist with daily Work Assignment tasks while developing trusting relationships with the Work Assignment Consultant, engineering consultants, Operations Chief Inspector (OCI)/Group Manager Field Engineering (GMFE), Manager Office Engineering and Training (MOET), Operations Engineering Manager (OEM), and Engineering Processing Manager (EPM).


The Field Engineering Assistant will process daily Work Assignment transactions including but not limited to incoming requests via the general mailbox. They will process all non-standard requests in addition to all incoming location activations and updates received via the Query Tool. The FEA will run and evaluate various reports to ensure the accuracy of the Work Assignment database.

Incumbents interact with various internal roles on a daily basis as well as external clients on occasion. Incumbents require strong customer service skills.

Incumbents are tasked in the field operations to support engineering teams, work assignment, plan review, jurisdictional and office engineering functions.

Qualifications:

• Excellent computer skills particularly Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Self-motivated and team-oriented
• Attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Strong problem-solving capability
• Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal and communication skills; oral and written
• Ability to multi-task
• 4 year College Degree/Bachelors Preferred
• Minimum 2 years administrative experience supporting a work group and/or manager. Project coordination experience preferred

This role requires simultaneous attention to many details, evaluating complex situations, and the ability to work with FM Global employees and clients. Excellent language skills, both oral and written are necessary. The successful candidate is detail oriented and has excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
