We are currently seeking a degree qualified Electrical Engineer, interested in developing a career in loss prevention engineering based in our Melbourne or Sydney office. This is a permanent full-time position.
Responsibilities:
Initially, your assignments are structured for you to learn. We will provide you with extensive training to understand our business, establish relationships with mentors, and learn FM Global's best-in-class industry standards and approach to property loss prevention. In this role, you will work independently with a lifeline of 200 years of support and experience.
You will gradually begin assessing risks at commercial and industrial properties. As a Consultant Engineer you will develop strong working relationships with our clients and visit their industrial and commercial facilities to help them identify, quantify and reduce risks to their business. You will advise on property protection and develop solutions supported by our extensive research base and unique scientific expertise. In addition, you will act to support project activity for our client base as they develop their business opportunities and facilities.
As a Consultant Engineer at FM Global you are expected to handle field, office and project work for clients within a wide range of industries (including manufacturing, warehousing and retailing) with minimal guidance and supervision. The role involves frequent domestic and some international travel (approx. 40-60 nights away each year).

Qualifications:
Successful Consultant Engineer candidates have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years electrical engineering experience
- Valid Passport, and the ability to travel without restrictions and within a few months of hire date, to various global locations including the United States. This is a requirement of the role, as a significant element of all new engineering hire training is conducted outside of Australia
- Full Driver’s License
- Physical ability to walk up and down the stairs, lift >12 kilos, balance, and safely working at heights
- Strong organizational, communication, listening and interpersonal skills are a must
- Effective consulting/sales and negotiation skills
- Solid technical capability including a diverse knowledge of engineering principles
- Strong problem solver with practical application
- Efficient time management ability with minimal supervision
- Proficient in MS Office products
