FM Global has an immediate opening for a B&M Account Engineer in the Toronto office. Joining an office with a growing high challenge book of business, the successful candidate will work in a fast paced environment.
The B&M Account Engineer will be expected to prevent losses at our client locations by assessing and quantifying risk, designing and delivering customized risk improvement plans, and reducing risks across our portfolio including:
- Unsatisfactory Equipment Factors
- Critical equipment issues
- Other B&M related conditions that impact underwriting
As a B&M Account Engineer in Toronto Operations, you will work collaboratively with Account Managers, Account Engineering and Field Engineering, frankly assessing, quantifying, communicating, and reducing/resolving exposures. You will be a technical resource for all Toronto Ops AEs, mentoring them on priorities while leading B&M related issues in stewardships and risk improvement planning meetings.
You will have the opportunity to create and develop strategies that strengthen our client relationships and reduce the frequency and severity of B&M related losses.
In addition, as part of your career development you will be exposed to the basics of the insurance industry, insurance policy provisions, and other aspects of the insurance side of the business. We welcome and promote new ideas and strategic, creative thinking to better service our clients and help protect the value their business creates.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and a minimum of 5 years B&M engineering experience in a wide variety of occupancies would be essential and experience in high hazard occupancies such as power generation, mining, and/or pulp & paper. Basic requirements also include having strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to analyze data and develop risk assessments, negotiate and implement risk improvement and create and demonstrate value added to clients. Organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, consulting and teamwork skills are needed to succeed in our team-oriented structure.
Remuneration and Hours:
This is a full-time office-based position. It is expected that a minimum of 6 weeks a year will be spent in the Vancouver office, and 30-40% travel time is expected overall. Must be willing to work in the field for the first two years of the role.
